DIY oyster shell mirrors are either made from scratch, starting off with a wood base, or an existing mirror is embellished with the oyster shells -A mirror with a simple flat wooden frame would work best. If you take on an oyster shell mirror project, the key to your success is making sure the shells are glued to the wood solidly. Unfortunately there seems to be not one right answer to the question what glue to use. Some people use heavy duty hot glue, while others found that flooring adhesive works best.
This small oyster shell mirror was created with an inexpensive mirror from a thrift store and recycled shells from an oyster roast. After testing a few glues, they ended up using heavy duty hot glue.

Tiny shells along the inner edge finish off this gorgeous mirror. They first tried to adhere the oyster shells with the popular E6000 glue, but they found that something more tacky and stiff worked much better. They ended up using TEC Stick n Stay Flooring Adhesive.
It’s easier if you attach your Hanging Hardware on to the back of your wood before you put your oysters on.
