This coastal home is only about an hour north from where I live. And it's a lighthouse.
Wings Neck Lighthouse sits at the entry point to Cape Cod, MA, and is available for rent. I love lighthouses and more and more of them are auctioned off and fall into the hands of private owners because new technology has made them obsolete and Wings Neck lighthouse is no exception.
After having been the guiding light for ships traveling the Cape Cod Canal for more than fifty years, it was sold by the government in 1947 to a couple from Boston for $13,738.
Now the lighthouse is owned by a Trust and the keepers home has been completely renovated in 2003 with all its antique charm preserved.
Sitting at the very tip of Wings Neck Point in Pocasset (city of Bourne), you get ocean views from every room, the water being only a few inches away.
In the eat-in kitchen you find all the modern amenities, including a lobster pot. And of course dining al Fresco is available with outdoor furniture, grill and picnic table, with ships passing by, so romantic.
A small adventure awaits you as well, the hexagonal lighthouse tower is attached to the dwelling by a breezeway.
You can go and climb up, it's good exercise with a bonus.
A sweeping view.
