A Sag Harbor Cottage

Shop Coastal Decor

This Sag Harbor Cottage on Long Island had a previous life as a schoolhouse. It is super charming and I love the town too. The owner, with the help of designer Tom Scheerer, created an eclectic haven, and they share some tips.

outdoor furniture for living room
Since Beach Cottage Style is casual, you can bring outdoor furniture inside -I like that! Here, it's a rattan footstool and wicker side table.

art in the bathroom
Art is great to have as a focal point. The expert advise: "When it comes to art work, one piece is almost never enough -unless it's huge." So a collection of similar prints in different shapes and sizes decorate the bathroom.

nautical style bedroom
The owner didn't want the house to be "ye old cottage" and wanted something modern for each room that stood out. So they chose two custom one-of-a-kind footboards for the two twin beds. What stands out for me also is the model yacht made from Driftwood! To see more of this Sag Harbor Cottage, click here!

On my front porch I have two 1950s rattan chairs that my son is going to restore for me in the Fall. They've just become a little weathered from being outside. My intention is to bring them in and use them in my living room for a more coastal look. Seeing this advice in CL tells me I've made a good decision. Now I just need to find a couch to complement them!
