Seashells on strings, call them mobiles or chimes, they look gorgeous dangling from the ceiling or a wall. And perhaps they inspire you (and me!) to create your very own. I found this adorable creation at Pure Style Home, hanging in the baby's nursery.

A seashell chime handcrafted by Liz of Shorely Chic (also featured here), available at her Etsy Store.

I love the idea of complementing curtains with strands of shells. These seashells on strings are from West Elm, but no longer available.

Look closely and you'll notice that these shells on florist wire are attached to a simple cloth wire hanger. As discussed here, you can drill a hole in each shell with a small drill bit if the shells don't already have holes.

Or learn how to make this Seashell Mobile, the holes here are made with needles!
So simple and lovely. Driftwood pieces from the beach at Lisa's Coastal Nest in Oregon.

A driftwood sea shell mobile that might require some "balancing skills".
Lili of Fearless Nesting wire wrapped seaglass and added it to her bedroom chandelier. And check out all her Shell Crafts and Wooden Beach Sign (second from top) too!

And you find the how to's for this seaglass mobile at Martha Stewart.

And lastly, these shells are hanging off the porch in Kali's island home in Australia who is featured today on Daily Vitamin Sea. These are great! I made one earlier today. My next project will be the driftwood hanger! Love them.
Those are beautiful! I love the seaglass one. :) They sell seashell ones all over the place in the Bahamas...they are lovely!
Love the pieces with the driftwood
Love the driftwood mobiles!
i love the third and sixth photos. i think i could actually make them!
Thank you so much for including my wind chime, what a pleasant surprise!!
have an awesome day :)
OMG!! That first image made me say Oh Wow!! Amazing. I love glass balls and to hang them and let them sparkle in the sunlight, they truly look amazing. Love it!! Kathysue
These are cool!
Yes, the driftwood type require balancing. It's good to practice drilling on broken shells first. Wear safety glasses and a mask. The dust produced from drilling shells can be pretty bad. Drilling sea glass well there is a good time trying to hold it under water with a drill in the other hand.
Maya!
You really got it going on, girlfriend! I really really love that glass float menagerie in the first photo, its gorgeous..
Thank you for adding the Coastal Nest to your list of crafty craftiness today, I appreciate it greatly. This is the funnest craft to do with the kids! There is soo much driftwood right now, it only takes us a little while to fill up our wagon. My kiddoes 5 and 6 are totally into this craft and we make them almost every time we set out to the cottage. Yes, they do require balancing, but we have made weights with rocks on one in or the other, and glued them on for balance. (it adds a little quirkiness to it, too)
I am honored, thank you again!

I love sea glass! I could design a whole house based on those colors.
I loved these so very pretty.
As you know I collect sea glass and of course that was my favourite one. I have lots of pieces that just aren't good enough for making jewellery with or are far too big so this is a very good idea.
Yet again you have come up with a great idea for me and once I am well enough to start working again I will make some of these and send you some photo's.
Your such an inspiration to me darling Maya.
much love

Aren't they amazing works of art...the seashell? Particularly hanging on diaphounous string!
I love these... I found a gorgeous seashell chime in a store a few months ago- it has a crown on top, with seashells dangling by thick twine. I can't wait to put it out come summertime!♥
Love them all!!!
I just need the perfect spot to hang a seashell wind chime in my home!!
the 3rd image is really terrific.
and the sea-glass is beautiful.

You always share such great and exciting ideas. I need some spare time!!! I wanna do this. I do have bowls, buckets and barrels of shells! ha.
The more shells the better... and I love the green sea glass too :)
Have a wonderful weekend!
