The next best thing to having your toes in the sand, is walking on a natural fiber rug.
Not only do I love how natural (plant based) fiber rugs feel underfoot, but to me they also mimic the sand and grasses on the beach. Be it a sisal rug, a seagrass rug, or jute rug, they are perfect for coastal style living. Here is a closer look at natural fiber rugs and shopping sources.
Sisal rugs are by far my favorite rugs. They are coarse in texture which reminds me of the sand, and they are very durable. Many sisal rugs are bound with cotton borders that come in all kinds of colors, and often they have a non-slip backing.
Seagrass rugs are also very durable and more dimensional than sisal rugs. They offer texture galore. Natural seagrass rugs have a light sheen, and often start out with a light green hue that fades to khaki.
Jute rugs are the softest of the bunch, resembling wool. They are less durable than sisal and seagrass rugs because of their soft texture.
