How to Distress your Coffee Table:
Materials
Sandpaper (medium and fine grit), chalk or acrylic paint, paintbrushes (wide for surface, smaller for detail), Polyurethane (for sealing). Optional: Wood wax or dark glaze for a weathered look.
Steps
Clean your wooden table and lightly sand it to remove any dirt or old finish. Then apply the base coat. Once completely dried, lightly sand the edges and corners to create a worn, distressed look. You can also distress areas where natural wear-and-tear would occur (like table legs and around the handles). Once the distressing is complete, apply a clear polyurethane sealer to protect the finish. For a more rustic or beachy look, rub some wax (clear or dark) onto the table to give it a subtle patina.
