Cape Cod Kennedy Compound

Here's a look at the Kennedy compound on Cape Cod, MA.

Kennedy compound
The area known as the Kennedy compound consists of about 6 acres of waterfront property in Hyannis Port, Cape Cod, MA. It contains the main residence, here viewed from the beach, and several other family houses.

Kennedy main residence Hyannis Port
The main 9,000-square-foot residence, scene of many of the Kennedy family’s gatherings, has been donated to an institute named for the late U.S. Sen. Edward M. Kennedy (Ted). It is here where the Kennedy's presence began in 1928 when Joseph Kennedy Sr. and his wife, Rose, purchased the summer house. The property was expanded to accommodate the growing family of nine children. Rose Kennedy died in the house in 1995, so did her son Ted in 2009.

Kennedy compound open to public
Rose Kennedy's two wishes were honored. The house is historically preserved with the furnishings remaining as they had been since the 1960 presidential election. And it will be used for charitable purposes and eventually would be opened to the general public. You can read the full story on Politico. The first tour of the Kennedy compound was given in June to history students, see Cape Cod Online.
