Wire Picture Holders that Rock

wire picture holders
I think these wire picture holders totally rock! I rarely come across Craft Project Ideas where we can use beach rocks, so I was very happy when I discovered these picture holders on Daily Danny.

how to make wire picture holder
To make them, all you need are rocks, floral wire and photos or postcards to display.

make wire picture holder
Place two floral wire pieces in a cross, place rock on top, then twist the wire around the rock and onto itself...

picture holders
... and twist a little spiral at the top of the wire, and you've got your wire picture holders! Here, you see the silver wire as is, while in the first shot the wires were covered with felt to give the picture holders a more polished look and some color. You can use all sorts of rocks; big ones, little ones, even stacked ones. I'll be hauling home more beach rocks for sure!

Currey & Company Lighting at Outer Banks Trading Group

Currey oyster chandelier
Let's indulge a little in luxurious Lighting by Currey & Company, all available through Outer Banks Trading Group (see sponsor ad).

Oyster Chandelier
Currey & Company has created a line of lavish lighting that I think is perfect for the beach cottage and seaside mansion alike. Here are some of the pieces from OBX Trading Group.

A rustic oyster shell chandelier, chosen by designer Annie Selke for the dining room in a Cape Cod home (as always, for more information and/or purchase please click on images).

driftwood chandelier
As you probably know I'm a big Driftwood fan. And this Currey & Company driftwood chandelier looks like it's made with a zillion washed up sticks, all fitted into place by hand. I'd love to see this one in a room -if you buy it, please send me a picture! Click here to browse all chandeliers.

Anthropologie -Marine Decor & Nathalie Lete

octopus hook
Anthropologie has a number of unique coastal theme items under Marine Decor and other categories (this octopus hook for example), but what I'm mostly smitten by are the products created by artist Nathalie Lete.

Nathalie Lete is a product designer and artist who lives in Paris, and she has been commissioned by Anthropologie to make unique pieces for their stores.

octopus art rug
Bold art rugs like this octopus rug which was on display in Anthropologie's flagship store at the Rockefeller Plaza in New York City two years ago.

lobster rug
What's available online is this equally artsy and unique lobster rug. Update: Natalie of Forever The Hostess commented that this rug is actually made from a painting by New Orleans artist Shelley Hesse. It says so in the description, but I missed it!

octopus dinner plates
Here Nathalie Lete's cool dinner plates (sweet octopus again)...

seahorse glass
... and beautiful Life-At-Sea tumbles. Click here to see her entire line.

Nathalie Lete artist studio
And I'm always interested to see where it all happens! So here it is, Nathalie Lete's studio in Paris.

Hand Print on Fabric with Craft Rubber Stamps or Homemades

To hand print fabric with craft rubber stamps or homemade stamps (I used carved potato halves as a kid!) is quite easy; and I have three neat examples for you.

print fabric with craft rubber stamps
Lovely decorative linen ribbons made by Rita of Beach House Living and for sale in her Etsy store. The prints are made with craft rubber stamps such as shells and starfish, using ink, she explains on her blog. To learn more click image.

print on fabric towels
I found this little print on fabric project on Design Sponge. They whipped up a few darling custom tea towels...

craft rubber stamps
... with the help of these seascape Rubber Stamps.

print fabric with starfish stamp
And the third print project comes from Mary of Boogieboard Cottage and is done with a homemade stamp. Mary had some left over Home Depot drop cloth and made a great table runner.

hand print fabric
She traced the starfish on a thin piece of craft foam and used that as her stamp.

Outdoor Garden Decor with Succulents & the Sea

starfish and flower frog
Nadia of Nadia Knows Gardens loves the sea and succulents. It shows in her home with sea treasures here and there and a peculiar Flower Frog. Then step outside.

outdoor garden decor with seashells
The theme of her outdoor garden decor is succulents and the sea! How come? Let her explain: "A long time ago in a land far, far away… I became a certified PADI scuba diver in the Sea of Cortez, Mexico. The beauty of the desert sand and cactus meeting right up against the big blue ocean is one of those vacation experiences that will forever be a picture memory in my mind. I decided to create a mini visual display of that memory in my cactus/aloe/ succulent garden on my side yard."

outdoor garden decor
So she created an under water world amongst succulent plants with shells, starfish, glass floats, pebbles and other beach finds...

garden decor with succulents
... as well as rope, a faux coral reef and anchor, a turtle, and a fish. To see it all and in large view click on images. Nadia can now scuba dive in her own outdoor garden!

beach garden decor
Even the toy cars she found left behind on the beach became part of her outdoor garden decor scheme.

painted garden stepping stone
Also in the mix are hand painted stepping stones. "Prop them next to a fence or planter for an artistic flair, or sink them into the ground and create a colorful path," Nadia suggests. After all Nadia Knows Gardens! And she's working towards a Certificate in Horticulture with intentions to Garden Coach in the near future. I'll be visiting again for more outdoor garden decor ideas!

Japanese Fishing Floats for your Home at Glass Float Junkie

Japanese Fishing Floats
Long before Kamichia knew about Completely Coastal and decided to advertise here, I had discovered her ebay store Glass Float Junkie. I so admire her passion for collecting glass fishing floats which she now also sells in her Etsy Store.

beach in Alaska
And this is just how passionate Kamichia is about finding these (forever fascinating to me) beauties. She flies out to her "secret" beaches in Alaska...

Japanese glass floats on beach
... where she is able to pick up hundreds of fishing floats in one spot. Many are just sitting on the beach, others are buried in the sand, or lying in the beach grass. Amazing! These floats spend years traveling the ocean currents and then the surf tosses them on to a desolate beach, she explains.

authentic green glass float
So if you want authentic beachcombed Japanese fishing floats as well as Korean floats for your home, visit Glass Float Junkie on Etsy. Custom orders are also available. Kamichia's got quite a supply of different shapes, sizes and colors. To get an idea, check out her Photo Gallery too.

The float on the left for example is a so called Hokkaido roller, and just under 5" long. The other one is the size of a golf ball and has the original net on it.

glass floats in vase
Small fishing floats look gorgeous as a group in a tall vase placed on a window sill with the light shining through, seen @ Shibui Home.

Or add a few to a flower vase.

And the ones with netting are perfect for hanging, via Light Locations. To see more fishing float displays, please visit the following posts:
