Smelling the Flowers

...and I'm not the only one! Annie had her Flower Power day, Ashley Picked her's from Domino and Mary created a pretty Little Spring in her life, beautiful flowers everywhere...

... and arranged like this, in a wall mounted nautical vase, even better (click image).

Basket Decor Nantucket Island Style

I love Nantucket style baskets (Source) and I'm inspired by all these pictures! Scroll down a bit and you'll find online stores that sell them.

Not only do Nantucket baskets come with a rich History but for me they also conjure images (and some memories too) of summer days in coastal New England, on Nantucket itself, as well as neighboring Martha's Vinyard and Block Island (Source).

Originals date back to the 1850's and the tradition lives on with today's basket weavers (Source)...

...and to no surprise they're also massproduced, made in China (Source).

Falling for Nautical Wallpaper

I'm sure you noticed, wallpaper has been back for some time now, and while the painful memories of removing tons of it in my house are still young, I'm beginning to fall for nautical wallpaper.

No paint or faux finish could achieve this fun Nautical look! Seen at Country Living.

Today's wallpapers are nothing like what I scraped off. This spectacular example comes from Simply Home.

Wallpapers are stylish now, easier to apply and remove, and might even be available as temporary wallpapers. Via York Wall Coverings.

Red Home Decor Accessories

Red symbolizes energy, passion, love, confidence..., but as a lover of the sea and coastal style living enthusiast my associations when I think red seem to go in a different direction..., out to sea. I see floats, life preservers, sails, a Lighthouse perched on a cliff, that kind of thing. Red to me is one of the Nautical Colors and if I have to ascribe psychological meaning to it it's adventure.
