Designer Susan Delurgio wanted carefree and simple living and found it in a cozy house that she decorated with sea in mind.
If you are decorating a small house, like this abode the size of 780 square, it's a good idea to keep the palette consistent. "I treated the whole house like one big room," Susan says. A palette of creams, whites and pastels give her landlocked small house the feel of a seaside retreat. The picture frames, made of recycled boat wood, are from her store Beach House Style, located in Fairfax CA.
Another idea. Use white Slipcovered Furniture for a fresh look, and to preserve the freshness, wash slipcovers every other month as part of your cleaning routine. The striped pillow on the sofa was fashioned from a tablecloth from Anthropologie.
For a small house, open kitchen shelving is a great idea. Cabinets with glass doors or wire mash would work also. The motto is -create visual space. Clutter not allowed.
