And there are some wonderful shell displays at Coquillage Cottage! When you walk in the door you see Rhonda's curio cabinet where she stores all of her favorites. Shells she picked up at the beach, at stores, and shells sent to her from a friend all the way from Africa.

This shell display reminds me of Sea Life Displays Inspired by the Natural History Museum. In fact, this was a project for a Flora and Fauna of Florida class Rhonda took in 2005 at Saint Petersburg College. Each shell has been tagged with its common name, its scientific name and the family it belongs to in the Phylum Mollusca (mollusks). Educational & beautiful!

And how neat is this vase, holding a tea light perfectly. It's a container for forcing Amaryllis bulbs, filled with crushed abalone shells which Rhonda calls nature's glitter.

And finally, this shell display is one of Rhonda's artful Coquillage pieces. Shells glued to the outside of a vase.
Thank you so much Rhonda for giving us a first glimpse into you new home!

Wow, just spent time catching up on your posts. Such ocean eye candy. Loved those display coffee tables.

I love the idea of tagging all of the shells for display - that might be fantastic summer project for my kids.
I'm actually off to IKEA today to pick up some shadow boxes (so they match our frames) for all of our starfish and shells.
Love to decorate with shells!
Hi Maya
Rhonda's a clever one that's for sure. Love all her shells and also her passion for the sea and all things beachy!!!
Have a lovely week Maya and thanks for the lovely comment.. xxx Julie

LOVE it. SO want one :)
Lovely...
Rhonda's curio is truly filled with divine treasures of the sea. Isn't it interesting no matter how many shells we see it's never boring.
Amazing displays! I have my ID books out right now to learn some of the names of the shells I have found! ♥
I love using shells for decoration. Usually I'm not crafty enough to actually arrange them, and they just get casually placed on the windowsill, but those arrangements would be beautiful to try if I had the knack for it! We also use shells on the dashboard of the car. It's especially fun to be driving in the snow in the winter and see your clam shells and sand dollars sliding around up there.
What a beautiful home! I love all her cute shell ideas, and natures glitter? Belongs in the dictionary =D
You're the one that taught me about the word *coquillage* too Maya! Love that Rhonda used it in the name of her cottage, how perfect! What beautiful displays of her collections, especially love the one with the identifying tags. ~Lili
Great ideas to display shell collections!
There is a great little shop down in Key West, at Mallory Square, that is a great place to get shells for some of these ideas... I just featured them yesterday in my week long blog series called Key West Week:
Shipwrecks Shells Squares & Sunsets

Maya! Computer problems have kept me away for the last week, but a trip to the Apple Store cured that. Thank you so much for featuring Coquillage Cottage on your blog. You continue to inspire me all the time!
