One Woman's Seashell Collection

seashell bollection in jars
Unlike fashion stylist Linda Rodin who's extensive seashell collection is spread throughout her apartment (see here: A Seashell Lovers New York City Apartment), Rindy's Mom has her shell collection neatly organized in one place.

This is what Rindy from Kitchen Klique writes: My parents live in Florida and years ago my mom started her Sea Shell Collection. After a while she just had a big box of shells and she didn't really know what to do with them. She decided to sort them according to type and put each different shell in a different jar. It has turned into a beautiful display in a nook of her home.

Some jars are wrapped with decorative wire with beads on them...

... others have old thrift store jewelry around their openings, and all have their name tags displayed. Indeed, a creatively organized seashell collection -and I also love the idea of a designated seashell nook!

AMAZING collection! I love that she really "went for it" and grouped everything together. It's so impactful!

I just love how she's displayed her shells all together in labelled jars and things. I've got mine in see-through plastic bins but it would be fun to do something like that instead. Some day soon I'll share a photo on my blog of my collection of shells that I've picked up on the beach.

Oh my! I'd have rooms full of them too, if I had just saved them over all of these years.

HI Maya
Love all this .. they look great collected and sorted like this.. a bit like storing buttons in jars... Well I don't know how I have so few shells living near the beach... there aren't that many to find around here.... maybe out of the city would have more success! I think what I like best about this collection is the fact that it is not going to accumulate dust!! There to enjoy!!! Lovely... xxx Julie

Hi Maya, that's such a lovely collection indeed. I've started collecting too, but I probably only have a dozen. It's fun starting it though.

A happy jolly 2010 to you!

Wow, she is so neat and organized! I have so many, I could open a shell shop. I should do a post of mine — some are organized, but more are not.

Come to Florida Maya, you can find enough shells in one week to do a display like this, I kid you not. There are even days when you could find this many in a day. One thing we do not lack at our beaches is seashells, lol.
