How to Make a Mini Christmas Tree with Wood for Wall or Tabletop

I've been crafty lately, and I'm happy to show you how to make a mini Christmas tree with wood for the wall. The wood I used, of course, is driftwood found on the beach! The tree is also self standing and can be used as a tabletop tree. You'll see! The inspiration for my wood Christmas tree came from two posts, published last year: Make a Christmas Tree with Driftwood and Make a Small Wall Christmas Tree. My mini tree is a marriage between the two, sort of.


I started with the layout.


Tools involved: a drill, hammer and nails.


I drilled holes into the wood sticks so that the nails would go right through them. And I pre-drilled the stem (hole size smaller than nails). I added a dab of glue as well. Not really necessary, but I wanted to give my cute mini Christmas tree extra strength!

Et voilà!


You need a block of wood for the base and drill a hole in the center. Make the hole just big enough so you can push the stem in. Fill up any gaps with hot glue.


As said, this mini Christmas tree can be used as a tabletop tree. Best on a shelf, window sill, or on top of a cabinet. But I wanted it to be a wall Christmas tree!


So I used simple aluminum z-clips that my husband cut to size for me!


And here it is! What do you think? Does my wall Christmas tree need decorations? At first I thought it did, see discussion on my Facebook page here, but now I kind of like it as is, crowned with one of the scallop shells that I found last weekend, photo posted on my Facebook here also.
