I've seen a few beach shadow boxes made from Antique Printer Trays. Isn't this a great rustic look! It suits shells so well.

And here's a small Printer Tray Shadow Box.

And then there's this spectacular printer tray, created by Jane of Sea Breezes. Jane says, "Everything in it is beach themed, it keeps me going through the winter." If you love this idea, you can find plenty of Antique Printer Trays

This is one of my favorite DIY ideas. A Drawer Shadow Box! Follow the link to learn how to transform an old drawer into a shadow box. A very doable project. You could even leave the drawer pull or add one!

And after swooning over the cubby organizer in the Pottery Barn catalog, Karla from It's The Little Things re-purposed her vintage Schweppes wooden bottle crate into a beach shadow box. Perhaps these shadow boxes have sparked your imagination!

What a great post! My mom had one of these and had everything in it from old printing letters, like in the last one, to seashells and other mementos. Thanks for providing me with yet another way to spend money...love these!

This blog post made me smile a big beachy day kind of smile!! I have two shadow boxes that I thought were becoming a pain to keep up with but now I know exactly what I want to do with them and where to put them! Thanks for the ideas :-)
Love shadow boxes. Gotta get one made for my future cottage. Got plenty shells from the beaches here to put in it. Thanks, by the way, for visiting my blog!!
Great re-purposing ideas! I love shadow boxes and shadow box frames, they make such interesting displays.
I never seem to make shadow boxes look right. We had a yard sale where I had two antique shadow boxes out and they were stolen...that's my story with shadow boxes:)

What a great, crafty idea:)
I have a bucket and box full of sea shells collected when we lived in Southern CA. I have wanted to use them in decorating my home. I forgot all about using shadow boxes.
I absolutely loved every one of these creative displays!

Maya, thank you for this post. I have been thinking since you said you'd like to see my sea-glass collection that keeping it all in a drawer is not the best way to deal with it.
But for the life of me couldn't think of the best way to display it. Now I have no excuse not to do something stunning with it and display it.
Once I sort it out I will send you some photo's.
Much love
Lia
