Born and raised in England, Sarah now enjoys the coastal lifestyle on the beaches of Sydney with her family, writing about her life and diy makeover & decorating adventures. Her decorating style? Beachy laid-back, simple, using lots of vintage finds. Love that! And what I admire most, Sarah seems to have an ongoing and evolving love affair with her adorable beach cottage. Improving and changing things almost on a daily basis. I hope to find lasting house love like this one day! So let's take a look around.
The perfect use for an old oar! To fit into the scheme, Sarah whitewashed it. Her oar rack, of course, is part of the list here: Decorating Nautical with Wooden Oars. The chair makeover includes adding numbers, plus whacking it with a screwdriver in places to chip it up a bit (done by her husband). You can learn all about it on Beach Cottage Decorating with Stencils.
I love Sarah's version of subway art. You can find the tutorial here. You might recall my post Beach Subway Art.
Out of a couple of old vintage suitcases Sarah made a side table. Who doesn't love these beauties! And they look gorgeous in white.

And on the old door around the back of the garage hangs the sweetest Coastal Wreath. "Just grab a wreath and hot glue some shells on..., I used a piece of old fabric from my stash for the tie," Sarah says. That's beach cottage style decorating -laid-back and simple. Thanks Sarah for sharing your inspirational journey at A Beach Cottage!
