Vintage French Travel Posters

It was in France where illustrated advertising posters as an art form originated. Once posters could be mass produced (in ca. 1870), two important French artists, Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec and Jules Chéret started to create poster art, followed by many others, and all kinds of styles evolved.

A row of framed vintage French travel posters that advertise the beautiful Cote D'Azur is the crown of this living room space. I love it. To create the look, search Ebay for Vintage French Posters, or find reproduction posters and vintage style travel prints and posters at Art.com. Search with keywords such as travel ads, travel posters, or with your favorite destination. These are reproductions at very affordable prices. Original Vintage French Posters might cost over a thousand dollar.

French cruise line poster of S.S. Paris
Here, the olden days of cruising are on display in a California Beach House with a vintage poster of the French Line S.S. Paris. Completed in 1921 it was the largest and most luxurious liner under the French flag. First class cabin passengers were able to have a private telephone, which was extremely rare then.

I love vintage travel posters too. They were the first things I bought when I moved into my new house 6 yrs ago. Mine are of Hawaii and Florida.

The French cruise ship and the sailboat posters are perfectly nautical! Love them! I like how the pillows in the first picture match the posters above the sofa.
