As much as you, my dear Readers, are inspired by posts here, I am in so many ways inspired by You! So when a reader left a comment on Collecting Decorative Lighthouses last week, saying that she plans to redecorate her bedroom/bathroom like the inside of a lighthouse keeper's quarters, I thought, what a brilliant idea. My first googling attempts to find such quarters, however, did not result in anything of interest so far, but I did stumble upon this on Decor Arts Now, an installation called Into the Lighthouse by Australian designer Sibella Court at Anthropologie's Flagship Store (also see Nathalie Lete).

The installation is Sibella Court's imagined re-creation of a lighthouse keeper’s quarters in the early 1900′s. Maybe not the time frame said reader had in mind -I don't know.

On display are many awesome creations by artists whom Court introduced to buyer-at-large Keith Johnson (Man Shops Globe on Sundance) when they travelled to Australia together earlier this year.

Original artworks include a potbelly stove made of cardboard, a hand embroidered bed quilt, textured porcelain vessels, and seafaring birds from archival cotton paper. To see and learn more click over to Into the Lighthouse @ Decor Arts Now.

Very interesting post! I always thought it would be kind of neat to stay in a lighthouse. I think there is a bed and breakfast in Maine where you can actually do that! Happy Friday!!
Oh Sibella Court... Love her!! still haven't been to her shop and it is only 30mins from home!!.. in fact I bought her book and still haven't looked at it as it is packed somewhere.. oh well
Love the Aussie flag cushion!! xxx Julie Have a great weekend ... i'm still having internet probs so slow to blog and visit..
Great post! I look forward to every one every day!
How very cool! Great post :)
What an intriguing post! My parents actually stayed in a lighthouse in Rhode Island for a weekend and were charged with lighthouse-keeping duties while there. I'll have to pick their brains about the interior-- it was about 15 years ago, so I don't remember what they said at the time. I'll let you know... thanks, Maya!
That display is so intriguing, I would love to see it in person! I just love Anthro anyway. ~Lili
Beautiful things! Love the name of the installation too; that was a great novel! ♥
The nest in that antique light is adorable. Maybe I should purposely do that at our house.
Hi Maya, this is insane! How amazing is this installation!! I'm in heaven. It sets my mind on fire... True attention to do detail. Got to LOVE Anthropologie, what a store. I would LOVE to see this in person, along with Nathalie Lete's window you shared with us. I wonder if Anthropologie would like a window full of Flotsam dolls??? What do you think? Thanks again Maya. Love, Pruxxx
Maya, I thought you may be interested in this. You can stay here. Seal Rocks is a divine, quaint, coastal town about 4 hours north of Sydney. I've never stayed at the lighthouse but a friend of mine has and she said it was magical!!

What an inspiring idea and post!! I had to come over when I saw you were writing about lighthouse decor. I tried to track down homeowners living near "my" island; they had restored a lighthouse and were living there in an adjoining building. Unfortunately, I never got to visit....But here I get to see what it could be! thanks, -s
There are lots of fascinating pieces in this lighthouse installation!! I especially love the round wood window, and the lantern is great too.
I thought the same thing about the Sea Breeze paint chip -- it DOES look a lot like the turquoise in our blog header :-)

I have checked into staying at a lighthouse for a vacation. Some have are basic while others have modern improvements. Usually sold to states for $1.00 everyone once in awhile they are available to the general public however funds to restore are required....Obvious I researched both for a while by rambling and could do even more still.
What a great idea!
I love it all....such a fabulous display:)
PS There's quite a few lighthouses that you can stay in on the Washington and Oregon Coasts. Nice post Maya!
