Chances are you're probably not a pink flamingo fan! Well, some of you did love the Pink Flamingo Wallpaper, but most of you wanted to win the seahorse or the tropical fish, not the fabulous flamingo canvas! See Canvas Art Giveaway by OBX Trading Group.
Anyways, I took this picture of pink flamingos in a store window during a recent visit to Stonington Connecticut, and I did find some of these graceful creatures (flamingo sculptures) in homes, all via flickr.com, except for the last one. For more information just click on images.

And here's a fun flamingo fact: Why are they pink? They're pink from their diet! Flamingos eat foods high in beta carotene, mostly shrimp and algae.

I had a pink flamingo bathroom in my first apartment after I got out of college. I LOVED it! I still love pink flamingos (the real ones)! :) Like the pics!

I like pink flamingo a lot. It's beautiful.
A lawn just isn't a lawn without a couple of pink birds! :) xoxo
I love pink flamingos
These fabulous little pink guys always make me smile...it's really worth it to have one or two poking out from somewhere in or outside of your home to give you that unexpected grin!!
Have a terrific day xOxO Nerina
I actually had a hard time deciding on my favorite canvas. The flamingo is fabulous! I love the pink, I just finally had to stop deciding and pick one. It was eeny-meeny-miny-moe than anything else, though!
i agree with everyone...pink flamingos have a way of making everyone smile. maybe you'll have a pink flamingo give-away next... ;)
It's fun to "flamingo" a friend as a prank!!
I was blessed to see the huge flocks of pink flamingos at the crater lakes in Kenya. WOW!!!
I have to agree with some of the others. flamingos do make me happy and are part of the whole tropical lifestyle. I've yet to find one I want to place in my villa but I am open to finding the right pink friend. I like the idea of sticking one in a planter like you have posted above.
I remember seeing a flamingo when we lived in Florida when I was a child. I don't remember where we were at the time - my father was in the Navy - but I clearly recall thinking that this was the most amazing bird I had ever seen!
I am a BIG pink flamingo fan! I bought one made out of plastic and real feathers a few years ago, but my dog loved it even more than I did, so it is no more =(
Thanks for the informative bit at the end there Maya! I never knew why they were pink until this post.

I actually like them...I even have 1 that I put out sometimes just to make me smile. They are tacky...but when you love the beach, they are tacky in a good way!
LOL! what great shots!! My neighbor has 2 pink flamingos in their side yard which I have full view of when I step outside...I'll be giggling in delight as I think about these pics.

I'd live a pair a vintage cement Flamingos. I saw a family on ebay once they were too cool.
We can thank Mr. Featherstone however for bringing the plastic flamingo to the masses.
Too fun, flamingos are such a colorful vision of tropical waters.
We have a pink flamingo on our common area patio at my condo. It's not really my style but it does add a touch of whimsy.
Cute post.
I agree with the others....there's just something about pink flamingos that make one smile and think of the beach! Loved your photos!!
I once knit and wool felted a large pink flamingo, I love them, they make me smile. Cute post Maya! ~Lili
I just came across this while searching for a Deco Breeze fan shaped like a flamingo.
I love flamingos and I enjoyed your post!
does anybody know a pink flamingo collector? i am trying to find someone that collects them.
Re: Flamingo Collector
I don't know anybody who collects flamingos, sorry. But there must be an interest group somewhere on the web! Perhaps on Ebay? Or search terms like collecting flamingos, etc.
Best of luck, and thanks for stopping by!
Just saw this "flamingo" link...we have 2 flamingos that are passed around in our family. They are the ugliest things you have ever seen...but we all love them because of our tradition. The latest recipient was my mother, on her 92 birthday...dressed with a chantilly lace scarf and nestled in a Tiffany's box.

I collect flamingos!! Love that shop window!
