Picture Pics of Martha's Vineyard Inspired by the Obama Family's Vacation Trip

Blue Heron Farm
It's been a little over a week since the Obama's left Martha's Vineyard, and said good-by to their vacation retreat, Blue Heron Farm in Chilmark, a tiny town listed as one of The most Expensive Small Towns in America by Business Week. "But don't expect to see any clues to Chilmark's wealth if you're passing through," says Cape Code News.

These three posters depict charming Menemsha, a 300-year-old fishing village with shops, restaurants and an adjacent public beach that's part of the township of Chilmark.

Gay Head Lighthouse
Then beautiful Aquinnah with the Gay Head Lighthouse, where the Obama's did most of their sightseeing. The stunning cliffs are a National Historic Landmark.

Obama Vacation
First they were riding their bikes along Aquinnah's the west coast.

Gay Head Lighthouse
Then they climbed up Gay Head Lighthouse, the tallest one of the five lighthouses on the island, rising 54 feet above the ground.

The Obama's visit caused quite a stir. People were excited, particularly store owners, all hoping for a First Family visit, among them Carol McManus who created the Obama Muffins.

That would be so much fun to take a tour of Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket!! A dream vacation for me, for sure. Maybe I'll get there someday, who knows? But probably not. :)

We used to take the high speed ferry over there then rent a car. Love that old carousel at Oak Bluffs. Got the gold ring twice there ;)

The first family looks so relaxed! I love the peacefulness of the islands - if my fiance didn't work in Cambridge we'd live much closer to them!

Even though I'm in Scotland, I've often heard and read about Martha's Vineyard and dreamed of visiting some year; this is the first time someone's really brought it to life for me. I'm reading a novel based in Nantucket at the moment, and I'm guessing it has a similar feel. Thanks!
