Andrea Gail: The Perfect Storm (2000)
... a sword fishing boat out at sea with six men when a storm stronger than any in recorded history hit the coast off Gloucester, Massachusetts on October 30, 1991.
The movie The Perfect Storm, based on Sebastian Junger's best-selling novel, so called because it was three storms combined into one, creating waves the size of a ten-story building.
Andrea Doria: Ghost Ship (2002)
... an Italian Luxury Cruise Liner that collided with another ship at sea and sank off Cape Code, MA, five years after her launch in 1951. 1,662 passengers and crew were on board, 52 lives were lost. Since then 14 divers died in the attempt of reaching the ship which is lying at 250 feet in international waters, referred to as the Mount Everest of diving.
The movie Ghost Ship is based on a screenplay and tells the fictional story of a salvage group that tries to claim the ship and bring it to a port..., and as the title suggests, there will be ghosts...
The ill-fated Andrea Doria at sea...
... and below a poster.
Titanic: Titanic (1997)
... the most famous, legendary and tragic of them all. On April 14th 1912 on her maiden voyage from Southampton England to New York...
... the luxurious passenger cruise liner hit an iceberg and sank in less than 3 hours. 1,500 people lost their lives. It was Murphy's Law in action (anything that could go wrong did). For example, the iceberg was spotted too late, normally Icebergs did not float that far South and the ship hit it the way it was most vulnerable to her. Then, there weren't enough lifeboats for everybody and a delay in setting them up, two were even lost to the sea, plus the nearest ship operator was asleep..., you can visit this Squidoo lense Best Titanic Ever for all the details.
... and below my poster picks..., as you can imagine there are many more...

What is it about these magnificent boats that captivate us?
loved the perfect storm , george is so hot in it!!
A friend and I took my girls to the Titanic Museum in Orlando, FL recently...by a stroke of luck my 17 year old got an 18 year old passengers name, and the 7 year old got a 7 year old who was moving from England to Jacksonville, FL of all places.
It really hit home at the end of the tour when we found out who survived and who didn't.
Made it very real for them.
Great post!
