The French Lieutenant's Woman (1981), an adaption of John Fowles romantic novel, filmed in the elegant Dorset town of Lyme Regis, England...
... and there is a scene in which fabulous Meryl Streep walks along the Cobb, the town's harbour wall...
... what can I say, I love romantic dramas and Meryl Streep movies...
... and the coastal town of Lyme Regis is a visual treat. Have you seen it?It's Hooked on Fridays over at Julia's where we share what we love.

I agree, this is a great movie!
Yes, I've visited Lyme (as the locals call it) just once, although happily the weather wasn't as fierce as the scene in the movie.
I think I've also seen the Cobb in a movie of a Jane Austen novel (Wikipedia suggests it was probably Persuasion), so you might like to look out for that too.
Great movie. I need to put that into my netflix queue.
Yes please, it all looks so gorgeous and picturesque!! I want to go!
I have not seen this, but it looks like a painting. Beautiful.
I have not seen the movie or been to the town, but both look lovely!
Ooooh. THAT would be a good one to watch again. I remember seeing it probably 25 years ago!
I haven't seen the movie, but I'd love to walk along that harbour wall!! What a beautiful setting for the movie....

I haven't seen the movie, but the town looks so pretty!
I can't believe I've never seen this movie! I'll have to change that right away! Thanks for visiting my blog!
I agreee it is a visual delight. I love coastal movies another is Local Hero, not a period drama, but the scenery of Scotland takes your breath away.. Love your blog by the way.
I am putting this in my "queue".
It's been years since I saw that movie. I need to watch it again!
Never...the closest I've ever gotten is London. My heart is still there...
Lyme was practically another character in the movie "Persuasion", closely based on Jane Austen's Persuasion. It looks so beautiful, and as if it's stopped in time somewhere. Really like your blog, and will take a look often. Check mine out sometime!
Never saw the movie.... The scenery looks nice but I usually like more aqua blue waters!!!!!!!
