Phocea -One of the Largest Sailing Vessels in the World

Phocea
Have you ever been on a sailing yacht this big? The size alone makes me gasp, then the beauty, the elegance, and the skill it takes to navigate such an opulent ship.

Phocea
Dining AL Fresco surrounded by ocean blues.

Luxurious interiors.

Even a gym.

Owned by Mouna Ayoub, a French socialite, business woman and former wife of billionaire Nasser Al-Rashid of Saudia Arabia. She bought the boat in 1997 for 5.56 million euros and transformed Phocea from a race boat to a five-star hotel yacht, staying true to the racing design. The yacht, which can be chartered through Nigel Burgess cruises the Mediterranean and the Caribbean Sea. And what does the name Phocea mean? It's the ship's home port Marseilles in South France that the French refer to as "City Phoceenne", honouring its Greek origin. Bon Voyage!

(sigh) No, I've never stepped foot on a yacht of any size, let alone one as luxurious as this one. Thanks for sharing. Happy Blue Monday.

I just saw this boat on the E! Channel. I had to find out more about the owner and the ship. I was completely impressed that it is owned by a woman. Who in addition has appreciation for it and restored it beautifully.

So sad to hear about the previous male owner who built it and was lost out to sea.

Magnificent boat to say the very least.

I went on the Phocea in 1996 when it was for sale> I was asked to inspect her for prospective buyers and if they had of been successful with purchase, would have been captain. Before the latest refit she was powered by rolls royce 850hp and no bow thrusters. Even before the refit she was a truly magnificant ship and the latest refit is a true credit to Mouna Ayoub and her team.

I have been on the Phocea a few times and it truly is a fabulous experience. I feel very lucky to have had the opportunity to spend time in such a grand vessel.
