In May 2007 my husband and I bought an Old Dutch Colonial Home by the sea in Southern Rhode Island. Nothing could be left untouched. We got a new roof, new siding, new septic, new master bathroom, new powder room, thus new plumbing; a new kitchen is still to come and new parking with driveway and landscaping is in the planning phase. And since I'm at home most of the time I got to hang out with plumbers, roofers and siding crews. Not true. I didn't actually hang out. Whatever we could handle ourselves we did. So I was busy hauling, scraping, sanding, cleaning and painting. It was not easy. And did you know that contractors don't function without music and that I like it quiet? But there is a picture perfect view over a coastal water way that includes a sunset and that made it all worthwhile. It's a dream spot. We got it right this time -our first home that's another story (for another time).

Amazing! I know how it is to have an old home. But living on the coast is worth it!
