I use to live very near Durdle Door and have canoed through it as well as swam through it.
It is part of the Jurassic Coast and just a few miles down the coast is a wonderful cove called Lulworth Cove, it's a sort of horse shoe shape,has the most beautiful (if somewhat cold) waters.
You can basically canoe along from there to Durdle Door.
It's a really beautiful part of the coast.
